Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary Alms, and only later in 1446 called Collegiate, is one of the most beautiful churches in the city. The building was built in the early eighteenth century, after the disastrous earthquake of 1693, designed by Angelo Italy, and in return, the statement projecting the current Etnea. The facade, designed by Stefano Ittar, represents the best of the late Baroque Catania, for the refinement of the decoration, the details and moldings. The interior has three naves separated by eight richly decorated columns, and three apses are kept large canvases depicting S. Euplio and S. Martyrdom of St. Apollonia and Agata. At the end of the right aisle stands the chapel of the statue of Our Lady. The sanctuary is a wooden choir consists of 36 stalls, here are preserved two operas by Giuseppe Sciuti, one of which depicts the ancient Mary Alms. At Sciuti are also attributed to the frescoes of the vaults and the transept. In the left nave, apse contains the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by three altars with paintings of saints. The church finally has a beautiful golden body, with carvings of the eighteenth century.
