Built in 1148 by King Roger II, the remains of a monastery dedicated to Sant'Ermete from which it took its name, the church is a classic example of Arab-Norman architecture, leaning against a rectangular structure probably a mosque, the church has a plant cross divided into bays each topped with a red dome typical of Arabic is also a beautiful cloister with a garden full of citrus and jasmine.
