The theater was built in the fifth century BC, and was restored in 3 sec. BC by the Romans who modified the shape of a horseshoe typical Greek theater in a semicircle typical Roman ones. Inside the auditorium of the theater are divided into 9 segments as side steps, ie the audience semicircular orchestra where the chorus danced and the scene of which, however, there is almost nothing left. A terrace overlooking the theater in the center of which there is the artificial cave of the fountain. Since 1914, every year in May / June, the theater hosts performances of classical theater that attract tourists from all over the world.
